Aaron Gill is a Deering Selectman, first elected in March 2013 and re-elected March 2016. During his time on the Board, Aaron has worked to bring data-driven planning, fairness, and a stronger sense of community to the role. He's supported increased investment in the Deering Fire & Rescue Squad, including a comprehensive research study, hiring of a part-time Fire Chief, and implementation of a per-diem EMT program, all of which he fought for and were approved at Deering's Town Meeting. He's currently working toward a comprehensive inventory of town-maintained roads for improved future planning.

Aaron also supported increased investment in community pride, including gateway signage ('Welcome to Deering' signs), an annual public BBQ, town center bandstand, improved website including promotion of public events, and even adding a tv slideshow of community events and scenes in the town hall lobby. Aaron continues to work well with the entire Board in streamlining budgeting and maintaining the strong, team-oriented environment.

Background
He was born and raised in a rural Maine town; his father was an AFL-CIO mill worker until the International Paper strike of 1987 when he moved into town governance, and his mother an English teacher, who taught him for two years in high school.

Aaron moved to Boston to attend Emerson College, but in 2002, he found his way to New Hampshire. While working full-time, he earned several degrees taking night classes. Aaron now works for a NH community bank helping small businesses obtain financing to support their growth.

While in night school, Aaron met his future husband Rob Girard, whom he married in a small bed & breakfast in Toronto during 2007. That same year, they bought a vacant home in Deering, which they enjoy renovating. The property provides a large canvas for the couple's love of vegetable and flower gardening.

Aaron became involved in politics during 2010 when Rep. David Bates (R)-Windham organized a statewide referendum against gay marriage. Aaron attended town meeting for the first time that year, speaking out against the measure. He was then asked to join the Conservation Commission.

Aaron previously ran for the New Hampshire house in 2012 and 2016, earning endorsements from the Human Rights Campaign, Teamsters Local 633, NEA-NH, NH Sierra Club, SEIU Local 1984, AFT-NH, NH AFL-CIO, PFFNH, and the Victory Fund.
